An incredible bit of news just developed! Jules Urbach from The Roddenberry Archive (same people who developed the Bridge Exploration Demo a few weeks back with Messy Deck, see our overview here) has released a demonstration clip of the long awaited Majel Barrett computer voice recreation!
In this voice clip you can hear the amazingly recreated sounds of Majel Barretts computer advertising the possibilities to come from the Roddenberry Archive. I couldn't be more over the moon with this.
For those unaware, it had been long rumoured that before her passing Majel had sat down and recorded all the phonemes and recordings of her voice so that her computer could live on through future Star Trek recordings. For a long time now most were under the assumption that these wouldn't see the light of day due to various technical or licensing issues. But no more!
Honestly the Roddenberry Archive, from a fan perspective, has been doing some incredible things with the history of Star Trek, and this is probably one of the most notable. I can't wait make Majel say "Last Time On Trek Time", that is assuming we can have some Majel Generator (creative commons license maybe? Here's hoping)
Looking forward to what's next!
