Star Trek: Infinite Announced!

Very excited to see at the Game Awards last night the announcement of another brand new Star Trek game in the making! And one from industry leading experts Paradox! Makers of the excellent 4x space grand strategy game Stellaris.

From the Paradox Website on ST: Infinite:

"Paradox Interactive and developer Nimble Giant Entertainment, under license from Paramount Consumer Products, today revealed Star Trek: Infinite, a grand strategy game based on the iconic sci-fi franchise. Set a few decades before Star Trek: The Next Generation, players will run an entire fleet within the Star Trek universe, commanding one of four major powers in the galaxy: the United Federation of Planets, Romulan Star Empire, Cardassian Union, or Klingon Empire. Star Trek: Infinite is coming to PC and macOS this Fall."

Star Trek: Infinite puts players in command of one of four major powers in the galaxy, each with individualized traits, stories, quests, and more to make their play feel distinct. With stunning visuals, difficult choices, and unique gameplay, this game allows players to experience a beloved franchise in a new way as they navigate contact with other empires and worlds.

"It is an honor to bring one of entertainment’s most iconic properties to life for our players and Star Trek’s multigenerational fanbase,” said Fredrik Wester, CEO of Paradox Interactive. “We know how much this franchise means to fans all over the world, and we are working closely with Nimble Giant and Paramount Consumer Products to create a faithful and fulfilling game that lives up to their expectations."

Personally, although we've not seen any gameplay yet, I'm incredibly hyped. A major strategy game set in the Star Trek Universe brings back Birth Of The Federation vibes to me, a game which I spent an inordinate amount of time playing.

Looking at this brief poster we can already get a sense of what time era we're playing with. Picard, Gowron, Dukat and Toreth are mainstays of the late-TNG early DS9 era. The same timeframe that Birth Of The Federation was set too. Will we be destroying overpowered Tarrellian cruisers that take half the fleet to destroy, or can we use our expert Cardassian espionage system to take out the other factions economy!

Time will tell, the full reveal is coming on June 16th which will hopefully reveal more of the format and which devices it's releasing for. Stay tuned!
