Exploring Star Trek Bridge Designs via The Roddenberry Archive

Presenting our tour of all the Enterprise bridge designs in Star Trek (warning, Picard S3 spoilers within). Auto and Idol go exploring every Enterprise bridge, and rate them accordingly.

In late April 2023 The Roddenberry Arhive in collaboration with OTAY and Messy Desk released the first public preview of their Bridge Explorer. And the results are absolutely incredible. Developers from Messy Desk had previously worked on the Enterprise-D exploring game Stage9, which sadly recieved a cease and desist from CBS a few years back (you can watch our video of that here) yet I am ecstatically glad they found a home here, because the work they have done in digitally restoring the interiors of some of my favourite Starships is incredible.

Not just that but the concept work bridge designs have also been incorperated too. From the XCV-330 prototype that was developed as an early concept for Star Trek back in 1964 to the Planet of the Titan's early Phase 2 bridge builds, spanning the gap between the original series ending and the beginning stages of the movie era. So much loving attention to detail has been paid to this, including some interactive items like the controls on the NX-01 helm and the Tactical Viewer on Sulu's console too.

Currently this is a limited time run, with no word on how this will run on for. So hopefully if you are reading this you can still go and visit the website and experience it for yourself (https://roddenberry.x.io, use Edge/Chrome and hit Enter Navigation, Firefox won't work). I had a chance to briefly speak with the developers on their Discord and they state that many more things are to come with this project, and the exploration of the bridges is only the beginning of this journey. Perhaps the fully mapped interiors of the Galaxy class from Stage9 might make an appearance. Maybe we'll get to see what's in the Head after all!

This feels like only the beginning for what is probably one of the most amazing Star Trek projects in the works today, and I cannot wait what's coming next!
